Recent honor: 2026 Distinguished Alumni/ae Award at FCS Alumni/ae Weekend 2026
What were your first impressions of FCS?
“From day one, I felt that this was the school for me. My teachers were fantastic. And I could see immediately that everyone was respected, no matter who they were. Everyone took delight in everyone else’s excellence.”
How did your FCS education impact you as a professional?
“You know that Quaker tenet, ‘There’s that of God in everyone’? I believe there’s that of Friends’ Central in every alum. We learned how to treat people with respect. That still guides me today when I help my clients reach their objectives in ways that align with their values.”
What do you think of campus when you return?
“The new facilities are just amazing. Cutting-edge. The Audrie Gardham Ulmer ’37 Center for Innovation and Design epitomizes how the School and its leaders are forward-thinking. It’s energizing to be on campus and see that.”
Why do you give?
“Schools don’t necessarily last forever. I very much would like to see Friends’ Central last in perpetuity. The School needs to have a strong presence forever. That doesn’t just happen!”
What would you say to encourage others to give?
“What if we hadn’t gone to Friends’ Central? How would our lives have been different? If you agree with me that Friends’ Central should last for a very, very long time, it makes sense for each of us as members of this community to do our part to ensure that.”
